Case Study: Power Plant

ENetPlan combined with ENetOPT Balance

ENetPlan combined with ENetOPT Balance 🎬

Plant Details and Optimization Target

The power plant operates a boiler that utilizes different types of fuels, including coal, LNG, and LPG. The steam produced by the boiler is distributed to over 200 local plant users, while the generated electricity is sold to KEPCO. The facility is equipped with multiple steam turbine generators to efficiently meet the energy demands of various users.

Work-Scope
  • Energy Network Planning
  • Optimal planning for maximizing profit, considering heat and power import/export and fuel price with other constraints such as energy requirement
  • The planning projection period : from a month to a year with an hour frequency
  • Facility maintenance plan is also required
  • Energy Network Balance
  • Configure steam, fuel, electricity network
  • Balance plant-wide mass and energy based on data reconciliation
  • Real-time facility efficiency parameter update by balancing energy network
  • Energy Management System (EMS)
  • Manage energy intensity, generation and consumption
  • Manage energy network balance and optimal operation
  • Configure heat requirement prediction system on web (short term and long term)
  • Calculate and display current/optimal energy production cost
  • Report operation plan and performance data
  • What-if simulation system(changing fuel cost, facility conditions, model parameters and etc)
Project Result
  • Suggest optimal operation plan
  • Predicted heat demand and waste heat data are displayed as trend chart
  • Bar chart shows when to turn on and off boilers and turbines to meet heat demand and how much to generate
  • Detail information about facility load is in the table
  • Constraints for planning can be given or modified through EMS.
  • Planning can be run through EMS.
  • Can customize constraints, prices, demand by timeline.
  • Performance model for Boiler, STG can be given or modified through EMS.
  • The results of production planning can be monitored through EMS.
  • The planning results can be viewed on a hourly, daily, and monthly basis.
